Restoring flow first
The line gets cleared through a cleanout so the house is usable again. On an urgent backup that is the priority, and everything else waits until it is done.
When several drains back up together, the problem is past the fixtures and out in the main line. An independent plumber can clear it, put a camera down to show you what is actually there, and price clearing, spot repair and replacement separately so the choice is yours.
If sewage is coming back into the house, stop running water anywhere, including appliances, because everything that goes down has to come back up somewhere. Keep people and pets out of the room, and do not pour chemicals into the line. That is a job to wait for rather than to attempt.

Clearing the blockage and understanding the pipe are two separate things, and you should get both.

A camera run shows roots, a crack, a low spot holding water, a separated joint or simply a line full of grease. Ask to watch the footage rather than take anyone's word for it.
A single failed section can often be dug and replaced. A line that has failed in several places, or old clay pipe with roots at every joint, is a replacement conversation instead.
Depth, surface above the line, whether the route crosses a driveway, patio or mature landscaping, and who restores the surface afterward. Those details drive the price more than the pipe does.
In older central and midtown Tucson, main lines are frequently clay or cast iron laid decades ago. Clay comes in short sections with joints, and those joints move slightly as the ground shifts. Cast iron corrodes and scales from the inside until the opening is a fraction of its original size, and eventually the bottom of the pipe gives way. Either one gives roots a way in.
Desert trees are the reason roots matter so much here. Mesquite, palo verde, ficus and citrus send roots a long way looking for moisture, and a sewer joint that is weeping even slightly is the most reliable water source on the lot. The roots do not usually break sound pipe; they find the opening that already exists, grow through it and then thicken until the line is blocked and the damage is worse. Cutting them restores flow. Repairing the pipe is what keeps them out.
Monsoon storms add a seasonal pattern. A heavy downpour pushes water and grit into cleanouts that are broken or missing caps, and saturated ground around an already-cracked line can pull soil into the pipe through the gap. If your line blocks most reliably in July and August, mention that, because it points the camera at the right things.
Newer homes in Marana, Vail and Sahuarita are usually on PVC, which has fewer joints and resists roots, so a blockage there is much more often about what went down the drain. If only one fixture is affected, start with drain cleaning instead, and clogged drain or sewer line problem explains how to tell which one you have. You can call the number directly.
It means the blockage is past the individual fixtures, in the main line that carries everything out. Stop using water anywhere in the house, including the dishwasher and washing machine. Sewage coming into a tub or a floor drain is an emergency, so say so clearly when you call.
If the same section blocks repeatedly and the camera shows roots or a break at the same place each time, clearing is only buying months. If the pipe is sound and the blockage was grease or a one-off, clearing is the correct answer and nothing more is needed. The footage should make that obvious to you, not just to the plumber. See drain cleaning.
Yes. Keep people and pets out of the room, stop running water anywhere in the house, ventilate if you can do it safely, and leave the cleanup and the line to someone with the right equipment. Do not add chemicals; they do not clear a main line and they make the job hazardous for whoever opens the pipe. Call Tucson Emergency Plumbing and wait.
The camera decides it: how long the damaged section is, how deep the line runs and what sits on top of it. A break under open desert landscaping is a far simpler job than one under a driveway, a patio or a mature tree. Ask the independent plumber to price clearing, spot repair and full replacement separately where all three apply so you can see exactly what you are choosing between.
When you call, say how many fixtures are affected and whether anything has come back up.
